I am proud to be running on the Silver Lake Progressive Slate. My motivating ideas for running are encouraging arts and culture in Silver Lake, working to retain and uplift Silver Lake's unique identity by supporting the creative, Latinx, and LGTBQ communities, finding creative solutions to keep Silver Lake accessible to all people, not just the wealthy, and restoring a sense of integrity, ethics, and oversight to the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council by rebuilding damaged relationships with community members, community organizations, and our City Councilmembers.
I'm a native Angeleno and a Silver Lake renter since 2010. I am the founder of the Silver Lake Picture Show ("SLPS"), the largest public arts and culture event in Silver Lake. SLPS creates a platform for local filmmakers to share their work with their community and, in its seven years, has supported over 100 artists and offered over $300,000 in free community programming. Additionally, SLPS uses its platform to spotlight the great work of other community organizations. I have collaborated with City Council Districts 13 and 4, the Hollywood Sunset Free Clinic, the Silver Lake Improvement Association, Dept. of Rec and Parks, and dozens of local businesses. I am also the co-founder of #LitterLeague along with LA Times columnist Charles Fleming. #LitterLeague is a 2019 community initiative intended to inspire community members to keep our streets clean. I would be proud to represent Silver Lake.
